Aloha Stadium
(Oahu)
The Aloha Stadium opened in on September 21, 1975
and many football games are played here, including
the annual Pro Bowl, Hula Bowl, and Hawaii Bowl, and
all of the home games of the Hawaii Warriors football
team from the University of Hawaii. There is a large
swapmeet in the stadium every weekend, and is is also
a venue for baseball games, soccer games, concerts,
and other events. The Aloha Stadium
has enough seating for 50,000 people. It is located
west of Honolulu, and 2 miles north of the Honolulu
Airport.
Honolulu Stadium
(Oahu)
This stadium at South King and Isenberg Streets
in Honolulu was built in 1926 when Oahu's entire
population as less then 200,000 people. It seated
approximately 24,000 people, but had only about 80 parking spaces.
The Honolulu Stadium was demolished in 1976 after the Aloha Stadium
was built. The grounds of old stadium have been turned into
Old Stadium Park.
War Memorial Stadium
(Maui)
Hawaii's War Memorial Stadium is located in Wailuku on the island of Maui
and it is part of a larger sports complex run by the Maui
Parks System. The complex includes the 20,000 seat War Memorial
Stadium, three little league fields, three softball fields,
two soccer fields, a gymnasium that seats nearly 3000 people, and a
swimming pool called "Coach Sakamoto Pool". In 1998 the Hula
Bowl Football Game was moved from the Aloha Stadium to War Memorial Stadium,
but in 2006 the game was moved back to the larger capacity Aloha Stadium
on Oahu.
