Chuy's Hula Hut
This restaurant on the banks of Lake Austin
is not very Hawaiian, or even very Polynesian,
but I am including it here because their
twist is serving a Mexican and Polynesian fusion
cuisine they call "Mexonesian". Located at 3825 Lake
Austin Boulevard in Austin Texas. For more
information call 512-476-4852.
Hula Hottie's Cafe and Bakery
When the maker of Hula Hottie's Hot Sauces moved from
the Big Island of Hawaii to Texas they opened a cafe, bakery,
and hot sauce shop at 244 West Davis Street in Dallas.
Their menu features appetizers, sandwiches and salads
made using their line of sauces, oils, and salad dressings.
Their Saturday brunch menus almost always include a Loco Moco
as one of the available entrees and several days a week
they serve Spam and brisket musubi plates. For more information
call the cafe at 214-943-2233.
(several Texas locations)
This chain of restaurants with several locations in Texas.
does not serve Hawaiian food but they do have menu items
with island style ingredients and names, for example macadamia
nut chicken and Kona's big island meatloaf. I would describe
their menu as casual Asian fusion. Located in Austin, Dallas,
Houston, San Antonio, Sugarland, Texas.
L&L Hawaiian Barbecue in Texas
This popular Hawaiian food and plate lunch cafe
has two locations in Texas, both in the greater
Dallas area. They are located at 8404 Preston

Roy Yamaguchi is one of Hawaii's most famous
chefs and his expensive dinner restaurants specialize
in a cuisine he calls Hawaiian fusion. Chef Roy has two
locations in Texas, one at 340 East 2nd Street
in Austin (512-391-1500) and one in the greater Dallas area
at 2840 Dallas Parkway in Plano (972-473-6263).
Trader Vic's Dallas
Expensive Tiki-decor dinner restaurant serving
Polynesian-Asian-Western fusion cuisine. Not
very Hawaiian or Polynesian but if you feel like
spending a lot of money this place will give you a
1960's style, hapa haole, touristy taste of the
islands. Most Trader Vic's have a dress code
so you'll want to ask about that. Located at
5330 East Mockingbird Lane in Dallas, Texas.
For more information call 214-823-0600.
