Hawaiian Culture Organizations

Information about organizations, councils, and associations in Hawaii dedicated to preserving and perpetuating Native Hawaiian culture.

Office of Hawaiian Affairs
A State of Hawaii government agency founded to protect the future of Hawaiians and the Hawaiian culture. The organization administers a trust fund set aside for people who are at least 50% Hawaiian, and it provides services to people with any amount of Hawaiian blood.

Pai Foundation
An organization established in 2001 to educate in matters relating to the indigenous culture and natural environment of Hawaii.

Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association
A non-profit corporation founded in 1997 to have an affect on the direction of tourism in Hawaii, and in particular to prevent the misuse and lack of respect for Hawaiian culture, values, and traditions.

Edith Kanakaole Foundation
An organization formed in 1990 by the family of the late Luka and Edith Kanakaole to heighten indigenous Hawaiian cultural awareness and participation through educational programs and scholarships.

Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement
A member-based organization founded in 2001 to provide services and community building tools to the Native Hawaiian community. Services include coordination of events and conferences, and lobbying for public policies that will enhance the future of the Native Hawaiian community.

Ke Pookela Cultural Foundation
Founded to promote understanding and harmony between the different culture that make up Hawaiian Society.

Cultural Learning Center at Kaala
An organization based in Waianae that was founded by a group of young people who wanted to bring their Hawaiian cultural heritage back to life.
